New Delhi: Karnataka’s Deputy Chief Minister and Congress State President, D.K. Shivakumar, announced that the party’s Election Committee is scheduled to meet on Thursday evening to discuss candidates for 50% of the Lok Sabha constituencies in the state. Shivakumar mentioned that due to the complexity of the process, the names of candidates for all 28 seats cannot be released in a single list.

“We will unveil the candidate list in two phases,” he stated during a press briefing. When asked about the possibility of fielding cabinet ministers and recent party joiners, Shivakumar remarked that in politics, anything is possible.

Responding to a query about whether the Congress would wait for the BJP’s candidate list before announcing theirs, Shivakumar emphasized the differences in the political approaches of the two parties. “In the Congress, our focus is not on individuals; we base our politics on promises and party principles. If the BJP relies on their calculations, we have our own calculations,” he asserted.

When questioned about the delayed selection of candidates, Shivakumar explained that discussions on this matter only took place a month ago, and subtle communications have been conveyed to potential candidates.
